Wave fans

I’ve had this routine in my head for ages… it’s about a gal at the beach, she gets brave and goes for a skinny dip but is washed out on a wave. She figures it out though, floats and swims with grace.

I wanted the fans to be hokey and like they are really trying to be waves. I considered a front plate and other wave structures, but decided floppy feathers were best. It’s three different layers of different blues with tip dye on 14 of the 14″ staves in navy. I also curled each of the feathers to be more extreme.

Color combo for Peachy Panache

Note that these fans are a double layer, but they use 14 12″ staves each. That makes them more fully rounded at the top and denser lower down. While it doesn’t give you quite the same effect as a triple with that extra curl in, adding a couple extra staves is a very budget friendly way to get a lush look. The staves are misty silver poly (a nice silvery/grey that blends so well with light bold colors), bottom row of upcycled drabs and top row of a custom lavender lilac plumes by Fancy Feather.
