Conversion with an upgrade for @pitbulls_and_poledancing took a simple double to a stellar triple! On my strong yet slimmer staves, they are even lighter than before even with the newly added top row. Flutter on!
In #Chicago, @phaedrablack was an early adopter of my DIY stave kits. I was recently able to take them back and give them a refreshed, professional rebuild. They are ready again for years on the stage!

Sometimes mistakes make for the best fans! @alluraflame ordered a set of Blondie (the inner color), but I messed up my counts. With Wheat also in stock, I really loved the color combo and we went with the two tones (not usually available with my basic and bulk options). So *happy* accident turned sweet set!
It’s been a while since I did an ombre plume, but this malachite like set is ready for the stages of Poland with @lolitavavoom!

If you dream in ombre, it’s important to first accept that feathers aren’t ever going to be as seamless as a gradient print or fabric dip. Feathers are natural products making them beautifully unpredictable. Look closely and you’ll notice every part of the feather picks up dye differently. While boas are dipped and soaked in dye at different points, the fluff and overlap helps to even out the sections. With plumes, there isn’t the same luxury! So every feather must be hand dipped, dipped again and dipped again (with multiple steps in between each dip) to achieve this ombre look. Layering then becomes important, overlapping the feathers in ways that even out the ombre and create the end effect. And yes… ombre does add a lot to the cost of a project, but considering the time and expertise needed to achieve an ombre on plumes, I’d say it’s a bargain!
@freyawest brought over a set that wasn’t getting much use. From sad in the bag, we did a conversion to the 8″ staves to get these a bit more dense, fluffy and lighter. The color combo is just so fun!
This color shift fluffy upgrade was done for @jean_heart5678! Assembled by @jahireen, the orginal double layer in white was already on my staves. Just adding the new top row of gold turns this set to a fluffy triple layer with a whole new look!
@tilavontwirl had amazing feathers, but heavy staves. So we gave them a fresh start! Assembled by @jahireen, we moved the feathers over from a clunky set of acrylics to my 12″ staves in almond. The set is even bigger, fluffier and lighter than before!

When Rainbow Feathers Las Vegas asked if I’d be interested in blacklight reactive feathers, my immediate reply was gimme, gimme, GIMME! Limited to these colors at the moment, I hope to test other brights with the specialty dye. But any plume fan configuration can be upgraded to use this dye.
Thesw sets are 28 single layer staves, bright color pop and 28 25″ plumes. Built by @jahireen in my Chicago studio.
Did you see feather fans during @usher’s Super Bowl halftime show? They weren’t mine, but we did support the performance!
Got the call on January 30th and delivered February 3rd!
When the fans originally ordered by the production company were stuck in customs, they reached out to me for help. We were able to supply them with 6 sets of fans to be used throughout the week — critical costume approvals, practices and promos — leading up to the event. The orginal fans (with more custom dye that we were not able to replicate on such short notice) finally arrived on Friday, just in time for the show. While we weren’t part of the starting lineup, it was an exciting project to be part of!
Huge congratulations to the entire team that made Usher’s performance one of the best in Super Bowl history!

How did I forget to post this gorgeous set done for @absinthique?! I am slightly superstitious and don’t post until projects safely make it to their performer. These went all the way to Germany, arrived safely and life got busy. But they are a fabulous color combo with my gold decos and burgundy feathers. Flapper girl dreams!

We started with the Standard 3 package (donnatouch.com/ostrich) with royal blue feathers from @fancyfeathercom and added almost 100 stem dyed peacock feathers from @thefeatherplace. The colors are just stunning, don’t you agree?

Each fan uses 7 of my 3-prong staves with 5 18-24″ plumes from @fancyfeathercom. The plates were tricky, but thanks to @coating.specialties_3311 for enlisting the help of a pinstriper for the fine painted on detail!
A special set for @indianabonesburlesque is blooming! This daisy is quite the statement on the level up staves and 3 layers of plumes.

Dark mysterious with a pop of color for @glampira_666!
I really like using the black to gunmetal as a gradient. And the dark colors really sets off the pop of violet on the inside. Feathers from @fancyfeathercom mounted on my 24 of my 12″ staves.
This set was imagined by @thejensenloren as a unique fan take on a venus fly trap!
The emerald and red plumes are from @fancyfeathercom, the venery reeves from @thefeatherplace and at the core are my 3-prong staves. The movement on these is light and swift. Perfect for attracting and devouring any audience!

Jolie sent a color swatch that @fancyfeathercom used to match for the custom dye batch. The feathers are lovely, the color is delicate and the staves will help this set float in stage!

Never exact because we always have to listen to the batch of feathers when they arrive, but flirt averages 25″ at center x 50″ wide while standard averages 30″ at center x 60″ wide.

Sally had inherited a double layer set from a special friend and wanted to get them refurbished to be able to take them back to the stage in their honor. The feathers weren’t perfect and the dye sun faded in places, but still good shape. We popped off the feathers, added a new for of fresh plumes, had the whole batch redyed at @fancyfeathercom and mounted on my higher quality staves. These are ready again for the stage!

Refurbished set with lovely large plumes! Blue is a little brighter in person, lots of depth and variation in the dye. Really makes them look like denim! Set is a double layer across 14 12″ staves.
