Just a little conversion for Bizzy LeBois. We swapped the acrylic staves for a set of my 24″ aluminum staves. For a lighter lift and ability to tighten with no risk of cracking, consider a conversion for your exquisite boas.
Category: Fan Type
Blue night boas
Done for The Incredible Edible Akynos, these are built on 24 24″ boa staves and use 40″ all ostrich and were beautifully custom ombre dyed Fancy Feather.
Chameleon teal
I’m naming this set done for Hazel Leigh the chameleon teal. A little blue, a little green… a lot of color in teal!
With 3 18-24″ feathers from Fancy Feather in teal across 12 12″ staves in southwest champagne, these offer great density for their size.
Black and greens
Peekaboo greens for Ginger Collins! Inside color pops are my favorite and this one has an extra layer of dynamic.
These are 4 layers! Each fan is built on 14 of my 14″ aluminum staves in fireside copper. Top 25″+ plumes and front drabs in black open to reveal two additional 20″ layers of the two greens. Mix of Fancy Feather and Rainbow Feathers
Double up extra
Done for Bryona Ashly, these are mega size! Called the double up, these are a bit extra with 16 of my 20″ staves in alloy silver, 25+” top row and double front and inside layer of 18-24 from Rainbow Feathers.
Iconic upgrade
You’re looking into future of stave design! A much sparklier version just hit the stage with Frankie Fictitious at Viva Las Vegas this past weekend!! She built them, so just like me, you have to live for the event photos and video clips.
Sure, I’ve done some cool designs before, but to take things further I started working with another creative. You’ll learn more about Katrina soon, but this first iconic set through production together was one heck of a kickoff. While I’ll always guide and manage the construction aspects, she’s layering in design flourish I’d never be able to achieve.
Thanks to Frankie for her trust in me for this project!
Deco upgrade
Classic deco for Lexxi Shackels. Surprise, this was an upgrade!
Working with her existing white and ivory feathers from an acrylic set, we took those off, added 12 new white plumes and then remounted everything onto the double deco middle and single decos (in Gold Bar Gold) and 4 14″ staves (in white).
Heart ❤
This is an experimental fan that has been floating around the studio for a while to be completed. It seemed like a good one to finish last night to be able to send some love to a performer affected by the hurricane.
Each fan has 8 side staves and the front heart center plate (which the feathers are attached too) with double layer 18-24″ plumes from Fancy Feather. A smidge heavier than a regular set and obviously weighted in the center, but should still be light enough for some rhinestone work. The side feathers separate a little bit more than my regular stave sets, but create a really nice flutter.
Zebra upgrade
ANTICI-PATION! These will hit the stage again for the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
This set was a conversion and upgrade. The orginal set was on the bulky acrylic and seemed very sparse. The fans are now on 8 scallop staves in flag red with 175 (we added 80 that blend in so seamlessly) center tail lady am pheasant feathers in red from ZJomes.
White double
The fans feature 26 regular 12″ and 2 accent aluminum staves in NEW color Class B Silver with 28 front 18-24″ plumes and top row of 25″+ in white from Fancy Feather. This is close to my Standard 3 package with the upgraded top row.
Wild purple
Another wild upgrade for Valerie Veils!
This set is really hard to describe, so just enjoy the photos and catch them in action if you can. We used some plumes from a smaller set, added more dyed to match and added the zebra pheasant all from Rainbow Feathers. There are new stave designs hidden below to make it all work together (specifically to allow the pheasant to jump between and away from the plumes).
This concept took a while for my brain to configure, test and produce. So just a reminder… if you want cool stuff like this, make sure you have 3-6 months to allow me time to make the magic happen.
Peachy peach
Still trying to capture the illusive peach color in my studio, but these lovelies landed with Esme D’Avril!
Each fan features 12 12″ staves in freckled peach, peach drabs and a double layer of peach from Fancy Feather.
Upgrade with pheasant
Check out this wild upgrade for Nina La Voix!
Nina picked up a used set of hot fans and the lady am side tails to mount on 24 12″ staves in flag red. Even all in red, the pheasant really adds quite a cool detail.
Earthy zebra
These shipped out to Bass Fam Creative. The zebra feathers dyed up so well in these golden earthy tones!
Fans feature 6 scallop staves in champagne forest with 120 lady am center tails 35-40″ in a two color mix.
Hot pink & white
Hot pink set for Sin Silva. Each fan features 12 12″ staves in white, white drabs and a double layer of hot pink from Fancy Feather.
Lilac & light blue
Killer combo for Mz. Jenocide! Still my favorite package across any color combo. Each fan features 12 12″ staves in alloy silver, lilac drabs and a double layer of light blue Fancy Featherc.
Drab/plume 14 staves
While a double layer is usually what most performers start on, this 14 staves drab/plume combo is a really nice, light and economical option if you like two colors. Each fan features 14 12″ staves, with front dark turquoise drabs and navy plumes from Fancy Feather.
Psychedelic baubles
Gigi Bonbon was an exceptional client!!! She came with a concept and the luxury of time. She had the cream front feathers and tip dyed inside feathers. Once we set the stave design, we finalized the rest of the color palette. Using Cricut vinyl, Rainbow Feathers then dyed the top row pink to gold tip feathers to match. The staves were powder coated in a cream, all the bauble circles cut on my Cricut Maker, placed before a final blast with clear spray paint to lock them in and then assembled. The fans collapse to the center and are on a short bolt to keep the feather fluff as back as possible.
This process took 5 months. And when I put it into text, it makes sense. Amazing takes so much… planning, brain, logistics, building… time. These are definitely one of the most stellar fan designs I’ve done. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the result!!
Red double layer flirt
Sometimes just one fan is needed!
This flirt size double layer is on 11 8″ staves and a flair stave on the inside. These accent staves are something I’m playing with. They provide more surface area for rhinestoning and help protect feathers if you prefer to hold your staves away from the base or attach to your costuming. Plumes are Ferrari red from Fancy Feather.
Big reds for Kalani Kokonuts
When icon Kalaniko konuts asked for me to build her a set of big red pheasant fans, of course it was a very exciting day!
This set is built on 8 of my V-staves in lollipop red and has a total of 200 35-40″ and 100 25-30″ lady ams. That’s 300 feathers! Each fan is about 45″ tall at center and 87″ across at the widest point. The staves can be overlapped to create a more narrow or denser fan for the space or routine. Although they are very light and can be bolted open for greater confidence when doing a lot of super fast movements, extra holes at two overlapping points allow for extra hold using just a twist tie.

Mint and jade triple
Now with Isabella Ivy, this set turned out amazing! The color combo and mixing is just so great.
Each fan features 12 12″ staves, double layer jade plumes with front layer mint plumes from Fancy Feather.
Side tails for Jill Mercy
The fans feature 170 lady am side tail feathers in a range of 27-40″ not dyed so these are the natural patterning. The feathers are layered double sided across 6 of my V staves in copper.
Firestarter
From the smoldering ash, Iva Handfull’s firestarter fans were born!
I’m just kindling. These combusted from share screen and collaborative clicking. But who doesn’t like to fan the flames of a good drama?
This was an intense glow up that we might have to pull back a little on, but the fans are currently 14 12″ staves, double layer plumes with front layer drabs. The feathers were custom dyed by Fancy Feather to 8 different dye patterns.
Grey boa fans
Gorgeous is this stunning grey set of boa fans that went to Dolly Dollface Dagger.
Built on 24 24″ boa staves in rich grey, using 40″ all 8 ply ostrich boa tails from Fancy Feather in a customized grey.
Ivory upgrade
This upgrade for Babraham Lincoln turned out delightful!
From a pair of static fans, we were able to salvage the blue drabs. On 24 12″ skies blue staves, we added a top row of 30″ plumes and inner row of 18-24″ plumes.
Petite boas
Miss Jolie Papillon has a giant performance personality, but she wanted boa fans that would fit smaller stage opportunities. She pitched me the idea of a scaled down set and they came out really fun!
These petite fluffs are on 20 staves in fuchsia metallic each with 8ply 30″ boas. Jolie worked directly with Fancy Feather for the colors of the custom ombre. Truly a one of a kind!
Nude Double
Feather fans captured the world’s attention because they created the illusion that their dancers were nude. When Mia Preisser asked for a set in her nude, I knew I could deliver with a custom dye.
This fluffy double layer features 12 12″ staves in gold bar gold and 48 plumes custom dyed at Rainbow Feathers.
Champagne Triple
Ain’t she sweet? This set just arrived in Australia for Constantly Peachy
This fluffy triple layer features 24 12″ staves in freckled peach and The Feather Place 18-24″ champagne plumes.
Chartreuse for Chartruice
These are impossible to scroll past, so no doubt they will help Chartruice command all the attention from any stage!
In an exquisite color, these are an example of Flirt 2 (24 8″ staves double plume) package upgraded with a tip dye on the top row.
Peacock Delight
These delicate beauties were a dream of Ariel Ash.
She had a photo from a couture shoot for inspiration, the white drabs and some of the peacock feathers. To achieve this look on a structure that is danceable, I made shorter 3 prong staves. Each fan has 8 staves with approximately 50 30″ peacock feathers and 32 drabs.
Peacock is really delicate and even more so when bleached like this. Although these fans are not for whipping, these have a gorgeous shimmy shake to them that no other feather comes close with.
Boa Conversion
Just a little conversion for Sucre à la Crème. She went with gold bar gold 24″ boa staves to replace her existing acrylic. Hopefully they offer a better experience for a lighter lift of these exquisite boas!
Blue Ombre
Playing again with single-ish layers and ombre dyes. Fans feature 14 8″ staves in alloy silver, 25″ inch triple dip ombre top plumes and front drabs in a light blue from Fancy Feather.
Double layer black
These fans feature 24 aluminum staves in satin black and 48 ostrich plumes predyed black from Fancy Feather.
Black and turquoise
Playing again with single-ish layers to find a good economy size that still looks lush and rich. Fans feature 14 12″ staves in glozkin teal, 24″ inch black plumes (so nice and big) and front drabs in a custom dark turquoise from Fancy Feather
Boa fans for Aerial
These are built on 24 24″ boa staves and use 40″ all ostrich and were beautifully custom triple dip dyed by Fancy Feather.
Boa fans for Babraham Lincoln
These delicious delights feature 24 24″ boa staves, 24 8ply ostrich boas in 40″ lengths from Fancy Feather and a custom ombre dye at Rainbow Feather.
Custom large for Aurora Maur
This set is a triple plume on 14 of the 12″ staves used for each fan. We used extra large plumes for the top row and slightly smaller inside. This upgrade on the feathers from Dersh Feather is so worth it! With the predyed ivory front plumes, these really pop to life.
Custom large for Dasha Sweetwaters
These beautiful blue extra large plumes are a custom color from Rainbow Feathers joined with white plumes on 14 of my 20″ staves. Wouldn’t you like to float with this lovely cloud?
Center tails for Mademoiselle Trishette
This set features 8 scallop staves in gloss black with 160 center tail lady am pheasant feathers in black. Turn up the sound to hear the gentle swish of these lovely feathers!
Upgrade for Ms. B LaRose
This elegant set uses 14 12″ staves for each. We upcycled the white drabs from her previous set and added two fresh layers of beige plumes from Fancy Feather. They are ready again to hit the stage.
