Once upon a time, @ditavonteese herself reached out about doing fans for the upcoming production of @diamondsxdustuk. I was equally excited and terrified, but it was a successful project!
@toscacyr led the creative charge on the ensemble pheasant set I posted earlier. Luckily @katrina.inprogress had done some wide flourishes recently, so she made coming up with western style motifs across that type of structure look easy.
Moving on to this set proved more challenging. Iterating on the design with Katrina to get Dita’s approval went smoothly. To lock in a color for the staves and feathers, I sent her powder coat swatches from @coating.specialties_3311. With that color selected, we matched to a pantone for @happinesscathy to dye. Unfortunately, they were beautiful but too rosey. We had the time, but not the ability to import another batch! Tariffs hit and all express shipping was shut down. With so few dyers in the states, everyone is always super booked and this project was turning into an emergency quick turn. Luckily @moonlightfeather came through and deliver the beautiful bubblegum! Then came the fun… the build! Stay tuned for a next post about the actual fan construction. I relied on my tried and true techniques and unlocked a few new skills! They were shipped off to the show through @marcushallprops and I’m proud they both made it to the stage!
Huge thank you to Dita and Tosca — truly dream clients!

And! This set was done for the ensemble dancers! Couldn’t have done it without my exceptionally talented designer @katrina.inprogress and my go to pheasant supplier/dyer @happinesscathy.
